Bentham Asset Management has appointed two distribution specialists as it reports increased interest in its credit strategies.

The specialist fixed income manager has appointed René Tetteroo as senior distribution manager and Joshua Poi as business development manager.

Tetteroo joins from Lazard Asset Management where he spent seven years in institutional distribution and previously worked at Schroders for four years. Meanwhile, Poi joins from a role as fixed income sales associate at FIIG Securities for private clients and previously worked as a qualified solicitor.

Bentham said the decision to expand the team followed “heightened investor interest in credit strategies” for use in defensive portfolios, driven by market volatility.

Research by Fidante found almost a third of financial advisers are looking to increase their exposure to fixed income allocations followed by 29 per cent who want to increase their cash exposure.

Richard Quin, founder and chief investment officer, said: “We are pleased to welcome René and Joshua to the Bentham team at a time when investor demand for sophisticated credit solutions continues to grow. With 2025 poised to be a pivotal year for active management, their expertise will support deeper engagement across our client base.

“Despite ongoing market volatility, Bentham’s multisector credit strategies have delivered strong results this quarter, outperforming cash, traditional fixed interest and broad credit indices.”

There has been a raft of distribution appointments in the past quarter as fund managers seek to target the wholesale market.

In May, Bell Asset Management appointed Andrew Stewart from Allianz Retire+ as its new head of retail sales to strengthen the firm’s adviser service model and enhance its distribution reach.

Meanwhile, Copia Investment Partners appointed Mac Dinsmore as distribution manager to focus on the Australian wholesale market, and Adam Tweedale to work with advisers across Victoria, Western Australia and Tasmania. Dinsmore joined from Wellington Management, while Tweedale previously worked at Lazard Asset Management.

Finally, global fund manager Barings appointed former Zenith Investment Partners national sales head, John Nicoll, as sales director. In the Melbourne-based role, he would oversee the development and management of client relationships and raise capital in the local wealth market.
